A New Era for Tax Awareness and Compliance in the Makran-Region

Gwadar 09, January 2025, Makran High Court Bar Association (MHCBA) and Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) have successfully organized a seminar for official announcement of Makran Tax Bar Association (MTBA); a new professional organization dedicated to supporting the interests of tax law professionals and enhancing the practice of tax law in the region particularly in Turbat, Panjgoor and Gwadar. The association’s mission is to provide a platform for collaboration, continuing education, advocacy, and networking among tax lawyers, accountants, and other professionals involved in tax law and profession of entire Balochistan.

The seminar was attended by our Chief Guests; Mr. Hamood Ur Rehman, the Deputy Commissioner Gwadar, Mr. Jeehand Hoth (President Chamber of Commerce Gwadar), Passand khan Buledi (President Gwadar Port Authority) and Members of Pakistan Tax Bar Association, Makran High Court Bar Association, Business Community specially the region of Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgoor and others. The event focused on raising awareness about the need for proper documentation, the benefits of adhering to tax laws, and the vital role of taxes in supporting public services and national development.

Mr. Mehrab Khan Gichki, President of Makran High Court Bar Association (MHCBA) welcomed the chief guests and other members of Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA), Makran High Court Bar Association and business community. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the significance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of tax compliance and supporting Pakistan’s exchequer by engaging with local taxpayers and encouraging them to pay their due taxes for the development of the region and the nation.
Mr. Anwar Kashif Mumtaz, President of Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA), officially announced the Makran Tax Bar Association (MTBA Makran-Region). In his speech, Mr. Anwar Kashif highlighted the significance of the MTBA Makran-Region in supporting the development of a transparent, efficient, and well-regulated tax system in the region. “This association will be instrumental in educating local businesses, professionals, and residents about their tax obligations and the importance of compliance.” Furthermore, he added that there is significance of an independent FBR office at Gwadar city for guidance, educating and fostering the effective mechanism in the development of legal fraternity and strengthen the tax collection for the betterment of the Baluchistan especially Makran-Region.

Mr. Rehan Siddiqui, Secretary General of PTBA has explained the key aspects of the tax system, tax documentation, and the benefits of compliance. His presentation was well received, offering practical guidance on how businesses and individuals can better understand and adhere to the latest tax regulations.
